When I chose to record this song, the idea was to create a positive image for women through my expression of music. As an R&B artist, I think the industry itself subjects women to being an accessory and not a individual. I’m an uncle and have very young nieces whom look up to me for guidance. Nevertheless, it felt like a good fun message to be able to record this song and also make it into a positive impact. Equally, the lyrics of the song are quite upbeat and playful which makes it great and friendly for all ages. Of course, we had to make it a music video as well, because what’s a great song without visuals, right?
Purposely, making the music video fun and interesting required me to tap into my connection with the fashion world. I actually started out as a print model. In effect, I was able to put together a very cool treatment with loads of resources. My vision was to shoot this song like a reality TV show full of modeling contestants. Of course, we had to turn the heat up with some competition so I chose to have 2 lead actresses in the music video. As a result, we did extensive casting calls and screen test to pick the best of the best. I was able to pick 6 elite models from so many good choices we had. I wanted to focus on diversity so you definitely will see that. The song is full of designer couture and a fun story line to follow. I hope that everyone will enjoy it!
